Adjustment of the light switch of brakes

Do not apply any lubricant oil or greasing (including anticorrosive, lubricant, etc.) with specified below sections.

  • The switch of a stoplight (1) (including its top part (2)).
  • the switch (2) adjoining a bracket of the brake lever (3).

If to use oil or greasing, they can get on contacts of the switch and cause their refusal. Also at check, adjustment or replacement of the brake switch, check that oil or greasing did not get to the zone of the switch adjoining a brake pedal or the top part of the switch. Erase the oil which has got to this zone or greasing.

At installation of the switch of a lamp of a brake (1) adjustment should be carried out as follows.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Pull the brake lever on itself and holding him in this situation, adjust position of the switch so that a gap between the end of a carving and a bracket of the brake lever (designated as or «b» in drawing is lower than "a").
  2. Then tighten a lock nut with the specified torque of an inhaling (if it is specified).
    • Gap between the end of a carving and a bracket of the brake lever
      • For having a lock nut
        • type "a": 1.5-2.0 mm (0.06 - 0.08 inches)
      • For not having a lock nut
        • «b»: 0.5-1.5 mm (0.02 - 0.06 inches)
      • Inhaling moment
        • Lock nut of the switch of a lamp of a brake (a): 7.5 N • m (0.75 kg-m, 5.5 pounds on foot)
