Ignition system

Ignition system for the G16 engine

General description

For the vehicles equipped with additional system of restriction of movement (a safety airbag):

  • Service of components of an airbag of safety and near them or works with electroconducting should be carried out only by the authorized dealer of SUZUKI. Non-compliance with precautionary measures of requirements can lead to inadvertent operation of system or put system out of action. Any of these two conditions can lead to a serious trauma.
  • Works on maintenance should be begun not earlier than in 90 seconds after the ignition switch is transferred to the situation "LOCK/LOCK" and a negative cable disconnected from the battery. Otherwise the system can be activated by reserve energy of the module of sensors and diagnostics.

Whether the components specified below in a concrete vehicle are established or not, depends on the vehicle specification. Remember it when will perform works on service:

  • resistor of an advancing of ignition;
  • diagnostics socket.

This system of ignition - system without the distributor. It consists of parts as is described below and has system of electronic control of ignition.

  • ECM (or PCM)

She distinguishes an engine condition on signals from sensors, defines the most suitable time of an advancing of ignition and time when the electricity should be submitted on the primary coil and sends a signal on the ignition coil.

  • Assembly of the coil of ignition

The coil of ignition has the built-in igniter which includes and disconnects primary current of the coil of ignition according to a signal with ECM (or PCM). When primary current of the coil of ignition is disconnected, in a secondary winding the high voltage is induced.

  • Spark plug, wire of a high voltage and reducer
  • CMP sensor, TP sensor, ECT sensor, MAF sensor and other sensors/switches.

Though this system of ignition has no distributor, in it there are two coils of ignition (one for spark plugs No. 1 and No. 4, and another for spark plugs No. 2 and No. 3). When the signal of ignition moves with ECM (or PCM) on igniter in assembly of the coil of ignition for spark plugs No. 1 and No. 4, in the secondary coil the high voltage is induced. Then it moves on a spark plug No. 1 through wires of a high voltage and on a spark plug No. 4 directly from assembly of the coil of ignition, forcing to give to these both candles a spark at the same time. Similarly when the signal of ignition goes with ECM (or PCM) on the ignition coil for spark plugs No. 2 and No. 3, the high voltage is induced in the secondary coil. Then it moves on a spark plug No. 3 through wires of a high voltage and on a spark plug No. 2 directly from the ignition coil, forcing to give to these both candles a spark at the same time. The system of ignition of a vehicle with a sensor of CKP does not demand adjustment of initial time of an advancing of ignition.
