Checks

Step 1-1. Analysis of complaints of the client

Write down problem details (malfunction, the complaint) and how it arose according to the client.

For this purpose it is possible to use the questionnaire, as shown below to facilitate the collection of information, necessary for the correct analysis and diagnostics.

The questionnaire for the client (example)

Full name of the Client:

Model:

VIN:

Date of issue:

Registration date:

Date of emergence of a problem:

Run:

Problem symptoms

The alarm lamp of "ABS" works incorrectly: does not join / is not switched off/blinks

Uncharacteristic noise at vehicle movement: from the engine, from the valve, other

The wheel is blocked when braking: the pump of the engine does not stop (works)

Brakes do not work:

Other:

Code of diagnostics of malfunction

First check: normal code/code of malfunction

The second check after driving check: normal code/code of malfunction

Step 1-2. Confirmation of symptoms of a problem

Check, whether really in a vehicle those problems which the client marked in the Questionnaire for the client and if such symptom is found meet, whether it is possible to consider it as malfunction or equipment refusal. This step should be carried out whenever possible together with the client. When the alarm lamp of ABS works incorrectly, pass to Tables of diagnostics of malfunctions - A, B or C.

Step 1-3. A code of diagnostics of malfunction (KDN) - check, record and dumping

Execute Check of a code of diagnostics of malfunction as shown below, write down it and then dump it, having addressed to point Dumping of a code of diagnostics of malfunction (KDN) in this Section.

If the code of malfunction which was displayed once and then is dumped, it is impossible to define to (find) again, at ignition switch inclusion, attempt to diagnose a problem on the basis of KDN which has been written down in this step can lead to incorrect diagnostics or is considerable it complicate. Pass to a step 2 whether to check correctly function of self-diagnostics of the module of management of ABS works.

If the code of malfunction which was displayed once and then is dumped, it is possible to define to (find) again, at ignition switch inclusion, pass to a step 3.

Step 2. Check when driving

When you inspect when driving, choose a safe place where there is no transport and possibility of transport incident and be very careful at test to avoid failure.

At check conduct a vehicle for speed of 40 km/h more long minutes and check, whether there are problem symptoms (for example, uncharacteristic work of an alarm lamp of ABS).

If the code of malfunction is again confirmed at ignition switch inclusion, check at the driving, described above, is not required. Pass to a step 3.

Step 3. Check of a code of diagnostics of malfunction

Again check a code of diagnostics of malfunction, having addressed to subsection Check of a code of diagnostics of malfunction (KDN) in this Section.

Step 4. Diagnostic table of codes of malfunction

According to the Table of diagnostics of malfunctions of ABS for the codes of malfunction confirmed in in a step 3, establish a site of a cause of defect, namely - a sensor, the switch, an assembly plait, the socket, the solenoid, the module of management of ABS or other part and repair or replace faulty elements.

Step 5. The diagnostic table in Head Brake system

Check parts or system which you consider as a possible cause of defect, having addressed to the Diagnostic table in Head Brake system on the basis of the symptoms, noted a vehicle (the symptoms received at performance of steps 1-1, 1-2 and 2) and repair or replace faulty parts if the such are available.

Step 6. Check of periodically appearing problems

Check parts where there can periodically be problems (for example, an assembly plait, the socket and др), having addressed to the Section Interrupting or weak connection in Head the General information and the corresponding chain of codes of the malfunctions noted in steps 1-3.

Step 7. Check and final confirmation

Be convinced that the problem symptom disappeared, and in work of ABS there are no malfunctions. If the carried-out repair was connected with KDN, dump a malfunction code, execute check when driving and be convinced that the normal code is displayed.

Check of an alarm lamp (alarm lamp of a brake)

Carry out this check out of the blue.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Include ignition and turn on the parking brake.
  2. Check, whether the alarm lamp (an alarm lamp of a brake) (1) joined.
Model with folding top.
Except model with folding top.
  1. Release the parking brake at the included ignition and be convinced that the alarm lamp (an alarm lamp of a brake) went out. If the lamp does not die away, pass to the Table E in this Chapter.

Check of an alarm lamp of ABS

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Include ignition.
  2. Be convinced that the alarm lamp of ABS (1) lights up approximately for 2 seconds and then dies away.
  3. If it is found malfunctions, pass to Tables of diagnostics of malfunctions - A, B or C in this Chapter.
Model with folding top.
Except model with folding top.

Check of a code of diagnostics of malfunction (KDN) (with use of an alarm lamp of ABS)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Using a wire (4), connect a diagnostic conclusion of "PNK" (3) of the black diagnostic socket (1) or the dark blue diagnostic socket (5) to a conclusion of "BLK" (2) or the case.
Model with folding top.
Except model with folding top.
  1. Include ignition.
  2. Pay attention to a blinking of an alarm lamp of "ABS" representing KDN, as shown in an example below and write down it. When in memory it is stored more than two
KDN, a lamp blinking for each KDN repeats three times, since the KDN most small number in an increasing order.
  3. More detailed information on KDN, cm in the Table of diagnostics of malfunctions of ABS in this Chapter.

Example: when the chain of a sensor of speed of the right forward wheel (KDN 21) is opened

A — the indicator of the voltmeter or an alarm lamp of ABS
In — time, second

and — high (incl.)
b — low (off)

The alarm lamp of ABS specifies only the following KDN. KDN 12 meaning that there are no faulty KDN, remains in memories and KDN of history meaning problem area, noted earlier. At the current malfunction, the alarm lamp of ABS remains included and consequently KDN is not displayed.

  1. After completion of check, switch off ignition and disconnect an office wire from diagnostics socket.

KDN check (using the SUZUKI scanner)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect the SUZUKI scanner to the socket of a data link (1). Special tool: (A) — SUZUKI scanner.
  1. Include ignition.
  2. Read KDN according to the instructions displayed on the SUZUKI scanner, and unpack or write down it. Address to the user's guide on the SUZUKI scanner for search of further information.
  3. After completion of check, disconnect an ignition switch and disconnect the SUZUKI scanner from DLC.

Dumping of a code of diagnostics of malfunction (KDN)

When you inspect when driving, choose a safe place where there is no transport and possibility of transport incident, and be very careful at test to avoid failure.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. After repair or replacement of faulty parts, dump all KDN, having executed the following procedure.
  2. Switch off ignition.
  1. Using a wire (4), connect a conclusion of "PNK" (3) of the black diagnostic socket (1) or the dark blue diagnostic socket (5) to a conclusion of "BLK" (2) or to the case.
  1. Include ignitions.
  1. Repeat connection/shutdown of an office wire to a diagnostic conclusion of grounding of at least 5 times within 10 seconds.

Connection of a wire should be 0.1 seconds and more.

  1. Include an ignition switch of OFF and disconnect an office wire from diagnostics socket.
  2. Execute check when driving according to the Table of diagnostics of malfunctions of ABS and Check of codes of diagnostics of malfunctions (KDN) in this Section and be convinced that the normal code (KDN 12) is displayed; instead of malfunction code.

It is possible to dump KDN, using the SUZUKI scanner. Address to the user's guide to an occasion of procedure of dumping of KDN.
