Brake shoe of a forward disk



  1. Lift a vehicle and remove a wheel.
  1. Remove pin bolts a support and (2).

Remove an E-ring from a strut and then remove a support (1) from the holder of a support.

Suspend the removed support on a hook from a wire (2) or similar to avoid excessive bending of a brake hose or not to extend it. Do not use the brake lever with the removed blocks (3).

  1. Remove blocks (3).


Brake shoe

Check degree of wear of an overlay of a block. If degree of wear exceeds limiting, replace blocks with the new.
  • Thickness of a block (slip + rim)
    • "a": support of a brake of "SUMITOMO"
  • Standard: 15.0 mm (0.590 inches)
  • Wear limit: 7.0 mm (0.275 inches)
    • Support of a brake of "TOKIKO"
  • Standard: 15.5 mm (0.610 inches)
  • Wear limit: 7.5 mm (0.295 inches)

Never grind overlays of a block an emery paper. If a slip to grind an emery paper, firm particles of an emery paper remain on a slip and can damage a disk. When it is necessary to correct an overlay of a block, replace it with the new.

When blocks are removed, examine a support, whether there are no leakages of brake liquid. Eliminate leaks if such is.

Brake disk


  1. Before survey it is necessary to remove brake shoes. Check a disk surface, whether there are no scratches on worn-out parts. Scratches on the surfaces of a disk found at such survey or replacement quite normal, and a disk is not faulty, except for cases if scratches are serious. However if scratches deep or cover all surface of a disk, replace it. When only one party is scratched, grind and correct this party.
    • Thickness of a block (slip + rim)
      • "a": support of a brake of "SUMITOMO"
    • Standard: 22 mm (0.866 inches)
    • Wear limit: 20 mm (0.787 inches)
      • Support of a brake of "TOKIKO"
    • Standard: 17 mm (0.670 inches)
    • Wear limit: 15 mm (0.590 inches)
  1. Use wheel nuts and suitable flat washers reliably to fix a disk on a nave, then establish the tsiferblatny indicator and measure wear at distance of 25 mm (0.98 inches) from external edge of a disk. Limit of a deflection of a disk: 0.15 mm (0.006 inches).

Before measurement, check, whether the bearing of a forward wheel is stirred up.

Pin of a sled of the cylinder, pin bolt

Check, whether the pin of a sled smoothly moves. If it is faulty, correct or replace. Use rubber greasing "A" for greasing of a pin of a sled or an external surface of a bolt of a pin of a sled. Rubber greasing should be such, that on its viscosity would not depend substantially on influence of low temperature in - 40 ° C (-40°F))).


Check, whether the boot is damaged, and whether there are no on it cracks. If it is faulty, replace.

  1. Establish clips of a block (1) and blocks (2).

Establish a block a sensor (5) turned to the center of the case of a support.

  1. Establish a support and tighten bolts of a pin of a support (1) or bolts of a pin of a sled of a support (1) according to the specification.
    • Inhaling torque:
      • Support of a brake of "TOKIKO"
      • Bolt of a pin of a support (a), (b): 27 N • m (2.7 kg-m, 20.0 pounds foots)
      • Support of a brake of "SUMITOMO"
      • Bolt of a pin of a support (M 10) (a): 50 N • m (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 pounds foots)
      • Bolt of a pin of a support (M 12) (b): 85 N • m (8.5 kg-m, 61.5 pounds foots)

Be convinced that boots reliably rose in grooves.

  1. The torque of an inhaling of nuts of forward wheels should correspond to the specification. Inhaling torque: a wheel nut (b) — 100 N • m (10.0 kg-m, 72.5 pounds foots).
  1. After completion of installation, perform check of work of a brake.
