Check and adjustment of time of an advancing of ignition
|
Before engine start, translate the transmission lever in "neutral" situation (in models with A/T in "P" range), and establish the parking brake. |
|
- Start the engine and warm up it to normal working temperature.
- Be convinced that all electric loading besides ignition is disconnected.
- Check and be convinced that speed of idling corresponds to the specification.
Using the SUZUKI scanner

- Connect the SUZUKI scanner to DLC (1) at the switched-off ignition, again start the engine and establish time of an advancing of ignition, using a mode of the fixed spark of the SUZUKI scanner. Special tool (A): SUZUKI scanner.

Without using the SUZUKI scanner
|
- Earth for check a switch (2) conclusion in the coupling of diagnostics (1) using an office wire to fix time of an advancing of ignition as the initial.
|
- Establish a stroboscope on an assembly plait of ignition for the cylinder No. 1.
- Using a stroboscope, check that time of an advancing observed from a point (1), corresponds to the specification.
- Point of supervision over initial time of an advancing of ignition (when it is established by means of the SUZUKI Scanner or an office wire): 5 ± 1 ° BTDC

- If time of an advancing of ignition does not correspond to the specification, release flange (е) a bolt (ы) (2), adjust advancing time, turning CMP a sensor (1) at the working engine, and then tighten a bolt (ы) (2). Inhaling torque: bolt (ы) sensor of CMP of 15 N • m (1.5 kg-m, 11.0 pounds foots).
- After a bolt inhaling (ов) again check, whether there corresponds time of an advancing of ignition of the specification.
- After check and/or adjustment, leave a mode of the fixed spark of the SUZUKI scanner or disconnect an office wire from diagnostics socket.

Driving at the earthed conclusion of the switch can become the reason of damage of the catalyst. Surely disconnect an office wire after adjustment. |

In this condition time of an advancing of ignition can vary in comparison with initial time of an advancing of ignition, but it is normal. |
- At operation of the engine idling (situation with the closed throttle and at a vehicle stop), check that time of an advancing of ignition about BTDC 12 °-16 ° (J20 engine). Also check that the increase in speed of the engine accelerates time of an advancing of ignition. If results of check are unsatisfactory above, check the entrance signals connected with system of ignition.
