Driveshaft

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift the car.
  2. To remove the forward driveshaft, execute item 3 — 4.
  3. Merge transfer oil as it is described in Head Transfer, in the Section Oil of a transfer case.
  1. Remove bolts (1) fixing arm of the stabilizer of cross-section stability and lower down the stabilizer of cross-section stability (2).
  1. Put leveling labels (1) on a flange of the hinge and the driveshaft.
  1. Remove the driveshaft.

Dismantling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. By means of the special tool (A) remove two lock rings (1). Special tool (A): 09900-06108.
  1. By means of specially tool (B) вытолкните a holder of the bearing of a crosspiece (1) on 3-4 mm (0.12 – 0.16 inches) from a holder of a fork of a shaft (2). Special tool (B): 09926-48010. Length of "a": 3–4 mm (0.12 – 0.16 inches).

Before to pull out it, put getting greasing between a holder of the bearing (1) and a holder of a fork (2).


  1. Tapping on a fork (1) hammer (2), completely remove a bearing (3) holder.
  1. Pull out a bearing holder from other party the same as it is described in points 2 and 3.
  1. To Vytolknita a bearing holder from a flange fork as it is described in points 1) and 2), and then, holding a holder of the bearing (2) pincers (1), knock on a flange fork and pull out a holder.
  1. Similarly remove a bearing holder on the other hand.
  • Be careful, that at removal of a holder of the bearing of a crosspiece not to lose its rollers.
  • Temporarily put the removed bearings in a crosspiece then to establish them in initial situation.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the driveshaft and a flange fork on damages and the driveshaft (1) – on palpation.
  1. If damage is revealed, or palpation of a shaft exceeds admissible borders, replace. Admissible borders of palpation: 0.8 mm (0.031 inch).

Assembly

At assembly surely use new lock rings, a crosspiece (1) and bearings (2). Use of old lock rings, a crosspiece and bearings is forbidden.


Be convinced that rollers in a holder of the bearing of a crosspiece all on a place.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Do not forget to put greasing on a holder of the bearing of a crosspiece. “A”: greasing 99000-25030.
  1. Insert a bearing (2) holder into a fork (3), tapping with a copper hammer (1) while it will not rise aflush with an end face of a fork (3). Thus insert a crosspiece (4) into a bearing (2) holder that rollers did not drop out of a bearing holder.
  1. Insert other holder of the bearing (1) from the opposite side into a fork (2), tapping with a copper hammer (3) while it will not rise aflush with an end face of a fork (2).
  1. Insert holders of bearings from a flange fork the same as it is described above in points 2-3.
  2. When will beat a hammer on holders of bearings, put on them a metal plate not to damage a fork.
  3. Reliably establish 4 lock rings on a shaft and a flange fork.

Check, that each lock ring was reliably adjusted in grooves.

  1. After assembly check, that the fork of a shaft and a flange fork moved smoothly.

Installation

Execute removal procedure in return sequence, paying attention to the following.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation clear and examine a sliding part of an end face of the driveshaft (where the oil epiploon contacts) and if there are even small scratches or deformations, modify an end face and again clear.
  1. Then put greasing in shlitsa of the driveshaft. “B”: greasing 99000-25010.
  1. Establish the driveshaft, having combined leveling labels, differently during movement there can be a vibration.
  1. For an inhaling of flange bolts and nuts of the driveshaft observe the following values of the moment of an inhaling. At a reuse of bolts of the back driveshaft, put on their carving part cement for carving blocking. “A”: cement 99000-32110. Inhaling moment: flange nuts of forward and back driveshafts — 50 N • m (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 pounds foots).
  1. For installation of the forward driveshaft execute the following steps 6 and 7.
  2. Establish the stabilizer of cross-section stability.
  1. Tighten bolts of a fixing arm of the stabilizer of cross-section stability to the specified value of the moment of an inhaling. Inhaling moment: bolt of a fixing arm of the stabilizer of cross-section stability (a): 23 N • m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 pounds foots).
  1. Fill in transfer oil as Oil of a transfer case in Head Transfer is described in the Section.
